JOHN CARLIN – OWNER & MASTER INSTRUCTOR

John has always liked a challenge and as if running a dive centre wasn’t enough he is also just completing a Phd in Marine Biology specialising in Coral Reefs. 

At the age of 9 when on holiday with his parents John sat on the bottom of a swimming pool in Devon with a SCUBA tank strapped to his back just watching other swimmers paddling around in this strange underwater world, from that moment on he was hooked! 

Many years later when he actually did his Open Water course John admits he was a hopeless diver!  But his love for the sensation of flying underwater in such a peaceful & beautiful environment didn’t subside, and diving quickly became the love of his life!

John became an Instructor in 2001 and the very fact that he struggled when he first learned to dive means that he is the most patient, understanding and calm instructor many people have dived with. 

John enjoys every aspect of diving, whether it is photography, wreck, deep or just a gentle dive admiring the beautiful coloured fish and corals.  He is always searching for the little things, the scorpion fish, the sea horses.  Until he married Katie John enjoyed diving for the fact that he could escape the rush and noise of everyday life. He soon discovered that his wife could talk underwater and the peace was broken!
