SHARK AWARENESS WEEK REPORT

The concept for the week began over a year ago ago with the release of the Sharkwater film by Rob Stewart. Over 50 Aquatic Element Club members attended the 3 film showings and over £250 was raised for Shark Conservation with the money going to Project AWARE and the Shark Trust.

Later in the year Katie Carlin (Aquatic Element co-owner) and Iain Lindsay (Aquatic Element Dive Club member) took part in protests against Shark Fin Soup in Soho, London. Realising the extent of the problems Sharks are facing and a series of talks were organised for the Dive Club from both the Shark Trust and the Sea Shepherd.

The Aquatic Element Dive Centre was shocked to find that less than a 150 metres from its doors that a restaurant was serving Shark Fin Soup.
